EFT-Relationship Therapy

The quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives

Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples

The quality of our relationships deeply shapes the quality of our lives. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a scientifically supported form of relationship therapy that helps couples restore emotional connection, trust, and intimacy.

In every relationship, painful patterns and recurring conflicts can develop that leave partners feeling disconnected, unseen, or emotionally unsafe. Through EFT, we gently explore these underlying dynamics and identify the attachment patterns that keep couples stuck.

Together, we create a safe and compassionate space where both partners can slow down, understand each other more deeply, and reconnect emotionally. The therapeutic process focuses on strengthening emotional safety, improving communication, and rebuilding intimacy and trust.

My approach is warm, empathetic, and trauma-informed, supporting couples in finding their way back to authentic connection and secure attachment.

You Don’t Have to Start Together

Sometimes one or both partners feel the need to first work through personal challenges, attachment wounds, or individual emotional patterns before starting couples therapy together. In that case, we can begin with individual sessions to create more clarity, emotional safety, and self-awareness.

From there, we can gently transition into couples therapy when both partners feel ready.

If your partner is not open to relationship therapy at this moment, you are still very welcome to come individually. Relationship patterns can already begin to shift when one person starts developing more awareness, healing, and emotional understanding.

Sanne is an amazing therapist. Our sessions together have really helped me in my journey. It is wonderful to have someone so present with you, with whom you can share the whole story and discuss possible directions. She really helped me gain clarity. I felt safe during our sessions because she is so empathetic and calm. She really makes you feel like she is there for you.

Thank you Sanne, for everything!

Sanne helped us during a difficult period in our life, adjusting to new parenthood we lost our connection. She gave us the support and helped us gain new insights that helped us move forward. Her warm, empathetic and respectful attitude made us feel comfortable sharing our emotions.

Anne & Peter

“Before starting therapy, we felt stuck in the same painful cycle and emotionally disconnected from each other. Through the sessions with Sanne, we learned to truly understand the deeper emotions and needs underneath our reactions. We now communicate with much more openness, safety, and compassion. Our relationship feels more connected, intimate, and alive again.”

Mel & Steve

“We had completely lost our physical intimacy and didn’t know how to talk about sex without getting stuck. Therapy with Sanne helped us feel emotionally safe with each other again, and from there intimacy slowly returned in a much more connected way.”

  • What is EFT?

EFT stands for Emotionally Focused Therapy. It is one of the most researched and effective forms of couples therapy in the world. Rather than focusing solely on communication techniques, EFT focuses on the emotional connection between partners. Because that is often the key to real change.

  • What is attachment and how does it affect my relationship?

Attachment refers to the way we emotionally bond and connect with others, shaped by our early relational experiences. Our attachment patterns influence how we handle intimacy, conflict, trust, emotional closeness, and fear of rejection within relationships.
When attachment wounds are triggered, couples often get stuck in patterns such as criticism, withdrawal, emotional distance, anxiety, or defensiveness. Relationship therapy helps uncover these unconscious dynamics and creates more emotional safety and secure connection.

  • Does online therapy work for couples?

Yes. Online couples therapy can be highly effective and offers a safe and comfortable space to work on your relationship from your own home environment. Many couples find it easier to open up emotionally in a familiar setting, which can support deeper connection and more honest communication. Online sessions are also a practical and flexible option for couples managing busy schedules, different locations, family life, or demanding careers.

  • How many sessions will we need?

This depends on the unique dynamics, goals, and history of each couple or individual. Most couples attend between 8 and 14 sessions, although some people benefit from shorter or longer therapeutic processes. Healing relationship patterns takes time, consistency, and emotional safety.

  • Can I come alone if my partner does not want therapy?

Absolutely. Individual therapy can already create important shifts within relationship dynamics. By becoming more aware of your own emotional patterns, attachment style, and communication habits, the relationship itself often begins to change as well. You are welcome both individually and as a couple.

  • Is relationship therapy suitable for intimacy and sexual issues?

Yes. Many couples seek therapy because of emotional disconnection, lack of intimacy, differences in sexual needs, or recurring feelings of rejection and frustration. In EFT therapy, we explore the deeper emotional and attachment dynamics beneath intimacy struggles, helping couples reconnect emotionally as well as physically
